American Ground Guide

Part bucket list ambition to visit every professional soccer stadium in the country, and part desire to provide a resource for fans, the original purpose of the WSOTP Ground Guide was to provide a comprehensive information source for American fans visiting American stands.

But… life got in the way. So now, these “guides” can serve as time capsules, a snapshot of what those grounds were like when I was able to visit them.

To construct these guides, I attempted to work directly with the clubs and local supporters to provide a full look at not just the match day experience at that stadium at the time — where to park, what seats are offer the best value, where’s the good beer — but also took a look at visiting the cities they sit in, too.

Just know that things will have undoubtedly changed since I visited and I can’t possibly keep up with them all. So as you follow my travels below, please don’t take any of this as dogma.

  1. BMO Field is wonderful. Super nice people but a quiet, quiet stadium. Singing felt oddly pushy. From our seats we could just about chat to our team. We got thumbs up for encouragement. I highly suggest you take the train to the stadium and stay in town by a trolley/subway/train line and you will have full access to the city. Super nice place to visit. Clean, safe, fun, good food, good transportation.

Found you for WWC, so I’ve been checking out your site. My husband knows better than I what info is out there for soccer fans here. But it would be wonderful to see NWSL info on your map. Here in Houston, the Dash share grounds with the Dynamo. Really nice grounds at the new BBVA Compass Stadium, always tons of seating, but sadly really expensive concessions. We would go more often ourselves if it weren’t $4.50 for a bottle of water. Also, for your soccer pubs, I believe Bar Munich still hosts the Red Army for Man United games.
