i want: football type

Football Type

Though my love for football is pretty much a given, most anyone who’s come around these parts at least a few times has probably also caught wind of my love for design. From crest redesigns to new kit nuances, or fan art to my obsession with the “brand” that WSOTP has developed into, I’ve written acres of text on the broad reaching subject. I just love it when those involved with the game go about designing things the right way and pay attention to all the little details. So when I heard that a new book was coming out that focuses entirely on the typography used by football clubs and brands, I just knew it would end up being the next item on my “I Want” list… so long as it was designed well itself.

Luckily, it was. Football Type, brought to you by “award winning designer” Rick Banks, provides an in-depth look at the iconic fonts used by clubs and countries over the history of the sport, and the stories behind them. Limited to a run of 1000 copies, each book is numbered with a raised felt Premier League number on the cover. And with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity the Football Foundation, you can know that your enjoyment will also bring joy to others. But with several hundred of the limited edition books already snapped up, you better act quick to buy me one.
