Like the rest of the world, we’ve been watching the events unfold in Ukraine over the last week. And though we’re privileged to not be active participants in the acts of war, it’s natural to speculate how that might impact the things we care about. So on this week’s episode of the #Pondcast, we tried to take a larger look at the impact of Russia’s aggression has had on the world of soccer. What might supporters of clubs caught up in the fracas — such as Jeremy’s long-time love Chelsea and their now very-entangled Russian owner Roman Abramovich — be feeling. The challenges that are being faced by players in the warzone and Russia. And how do we all move on? We also shoehorned in some actual English soccer, plus a new segment called “MLS Under or Overreactions”.
